About TrailCurrent
Open-source smart monitoring and control for RVs and travel trailers — built in the open, funded by the community.
What is TrailCurrent?
TrailCurrent is an open-source platform that brings smart monitoring and control to RVs and travel trailers. A modular system of sensors, controllers, and displays — all connected over CAN bus and WiFi — lets you track everything from battery and solar to water levels, climate, and lighting. Manage it all from a touchscreen, your phone, or anywhere through the cloud.
Why we're building this
RVs and travel trailers are packed with systems like batteries, solar, water tanks, lighting, and climate control. Monitoring them usually means walking around checking gauges or buying expensive proprietary systems that don't talk to each other. TrailCurrent started as a frustration with that reality. We're building an open, modular platform that puts everything on one screen and gives you control from anywhere.
Open Source
Every line of code and circuit design is public. Build with us, fork it, learn from it. TrailCurrent belongs to the community.
Modular by Design
Start with what you need. Add solar monitoring, water levels, climate control, or lighting as you go. Each module works independently and connects to the platform when you're ready.
Community Funded
There's no venture capital behind TrailCurrent. Every sticker, shirt, and piece of gear purchased here goes directly toward prototyping hardware, ordering PCBs, and shipping the next module.
One Dashboard for Everything
Battery state of charge, solar production, water levels, temperature, air quality, lighting, and door sensors all live on one screen. The TrailCurrent PWA runs on the in-vehicle computer and works from any browser. Pair it with the cloud for remote monitoring or the Android app for native control on the go.
